Application process

At AphasiaNS we are always happy to receive a helping hand. We welcome any and all skill levels from our volunteers.

If you are interested in taking one of the positions below, or to find out how you can contribute in any way to any of the Aphasia Nova Scotia committees, please complete the following steps:

Step 1: Fill out our application form.

Step 2: Send your resume to our volunteer coordinator at

Step 3: The volunteer coordinator will contact you for an interview, where you will learn about the structure of AphasiaNS and available positions.

Step 4: You get accepted to a position and get to put your skills to use with AphasiaNS!

*Note: Those offered a volunteer position with Aphasia Nova Scotia may be required to submit a police record check with vulnerable sector query. Our volunteers are eligible for the volunteer rate of $30 (payable by the volunteer) and will be provided with a letter from the volunteer coordinator to present to the police.


Volunteer opportunities

Currently, we are searching for volunteers for all committees. Through our interview process, we will find a place for you that best fits your skill set.

We are also searching for volunteers for specific positions:

Communication Committee

  • Graphic designer - 1 position available - with duties including: 

    • Conceive and design material to be posted on the website pages (i.e. Icons, background pictures)

    • Conceive and design promotional posters to be posted on the social media or sent through mailing list (i.e. newsletters, posters)

    • Communicate regularly with both the social media lead and the website curator during the phase of content design to get insights and feedback
